This page shows the internals of a plasma cartridge from an LSI 337i nitrogen laser
LSI PART NO. 337991-02 PLASMA CARTRIDGE NO. 2043 MANUFACTURED 9/98Potted
De-potted
The discharge electrodes in the tube are roughly twice as long as the distance between the two screws
High voltage, non-inductive thick film resistor, 5 W, 22 kV, 1000 M Ω.
Circuit from HV to ground
The resistor reads:
EBG
FBX2/2
1GK
44041
The spark gap
Slightly wedge-shaped windows are glued to the ends of the tube
On the front of the tube is a lens. The electrodes appear to be about 50 mm long.
The main caps were moved to the other side of the tube
The flat resistor damaged in depotting was replaced with something similar (under the red wires).
Beam is weak (left)
Tube with gas fill port replaced with longer 1/4" copper tubing and needle value from the hardware store. Re-filled with welder's grade N2. Using different capacitors.
